Gabby Koel threw the discus 132-7 3/4 at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field meet in Waverly, Iowa Thursday. The Piper junior finished 20th in the competition. The Alexandria, Minn. native's second throw was the one that counted -- and it was nearly two feet farther than the effort that won the MIAC Championships two weeks ago. Koel's personal best is 152-3, achieved May 7 at Hamline's annual Meet of the UnSaintly.
